Welcome to the Ellsworth High School Alumni
Association web site. Although the Association had been in existence for many years under the able stewardship of the late
Irving “Froggy Maddocks”, the genesis of the rejuvenated EHSAA occurred on a midsummers evening in 1996 when
several members of the class of 1961 were planning their 35th reunion.
Arrayed around that most common of all
Downeast venues — the kitchen table — a suggestion was made that a Reunion be held in the year 2000 for all EHS
alumni. All assembled pronounced this a grand idea, and, a few moments later it was agreed that the Reunion should also be
an occasion to create an endowment fund for students and alumni who would be seeking a secondary or post-secondary
education in the 21rst century and beyond.
From that first informal discussion, many things have been accomplished.
Through the dedicated efforts of EHS graduates from the 1920’s to the present, the Association has been
formally incorporated as a not-for-profit 501C3 corporation whose purposes, as stated in the by-laws are for the
“enhancement, support and promotion of secondary and post secondary curricular and co-curricular activities of
Ellsworth High School and its students, both present and alumni.”
Officers and a Board of Directors have been
established, along with Scholarship and Events Subcommittees.
Alumni have agreed to serve as Class Agents to be
liaisons with their respective classes. Alumni news is welcome so that all graduates can maintain contact with each other
and to continue our efforts to locate missing classmates.
Through the efforts of all EHS alumni, we are confident
that our goals will be accomplished. An endowment and a reunion will be realized. That will make us all proud to have
attended and graduated from Ellsworth High School.
